Wilderness/Land Search and Rescue

Volunteer organizations have long been the backbone of Search and Rescue response in the United States and this is no different for the State of North Carolina.  Many volunteer SAR teams across the State dedicate extensive hours and thousands of dollars a year in training and equipment with the common goal of finding lost persons.  In  the tradition of neighbor helping neighbor through mutual aid, many governmental agencies have agreed to make themselves available Statewide in times of need.

Land Search teams meeting NCEM recommended criteria that are available for deployment outside of their jurisdiction are asked to fill out the Wilderness SAR Workbook for addition to the SAR Resource Directory.
